Est. 1986 Stuart Surf Design focuses on the craft and design of high quality surfboards made at our local factory surf shop in Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast, Australia. Our Australian made surfboards are factory direct with our shapers and crafters working just metres behind our surf shop shaping, fibre glassing, sanding and finishing the surfboards on site to get them straight into our customers hands. Situated just 250m from the beach front, we can provide you with a fresh stick, a range of second hand surfboards, organise a ding repair, hire out surfboards, or fix you up with some accessories to get you out into the action as soon as possible.

We take pride in our performance and durability of our surfboard range, ensuring you can get the best experience out of every wave and session with your surfboard. Our crew on deck at the store are experienced and trained surfboard builders, knowing how to find the best surfboard to suit your expertise and style for any occasion ensuring every customer leaves with a quality unique experience from our store. We offer a great range of over 400 new surfboards and 100 second hand surfboards available in store throughout the year. We also specialise in custom orders if you are looking for something more personalised to your style.

We’re all about community at Stuart Surf Design working closely with locals, surfboard riding clubs and surf schools to keep the surfing spirit and lifestyle maintained on the Gold Coast. We also work closely with athletes competing in the Men’s Qualifying Series World Surf League providing them with high performance series surfboards to compete with the best of the best.

Our onsite and local shaper, Stuart Smith, has been surfing since 1972 and shaping since 1985 refining his craft over the years to deliver consistently to local and international surfers. Stuart collaborates with Californian surfboard manufacturer Xanadu Surf Designs where you can find some of his product available in store only as well. You can see Stuart in store during the week pumping out our unique surfboard range factory direct from start to finish.
